What do YOU think???

We will be adding an open blog during the coming month where you can set up an account and post about your own favorite NGOs. We hope this will bring small NGOs a higher profile and new opportunities via the World Wide Web. Please add your comments and let us know what you think of this idea.

I think the blog is a fabulous idea.

I have been moved by Women's Giving Tree, and wanted to find ways to contribute creatively. Inspired by some of the women I paint with, I decided to raffle one of my paintings at my open studio show last summer. I was able to inform some people who came about WGT, and raised enough $ to sponsor a child's preschool education for a year in South Africa through the KNYSNA Education Trust. I plan continue to raffle painting at my Art Shows! Perhaps I will be able to sponsor Alexis' education for years to come!

Dear Sandra,

I trust this finds you well. Thank you so very much for sponsoring a child's education - know that this is greatly appreciated!
Many children do not attend preschool as their parents/caregivers are unable to afford the school fees. A preschool education is of great importance in a child's life as these are their formative years. A solid preschool education well equips a child for formal schooling and beyond!
Alexis Michaels has been allocated to you. She was born on 27 March 2007. She is the older of two children - she has a younger sister. Her father is unknown, and her mother has a history of substance abuse. Alexis and her sister are often cared for by members of the community. Alexis attends Isiseko educare centre, which is run by a dynamic and caring young woman called Brenda. The preschool is a safe haven for many of the children - there are 60 children between the ages of 13 months to 6 years at the preschool. Alexis is a happy little girl, who is very caring and helpful towards her peers. She dislikes it when other children are upset, and likes to play dress ups in the fantasy corner! Please see her attached photo. Alexis receives a nutritious, fortified cereal called 'e'Pap' each day at school, as well as a cooked midday meal, which has been kindly sponsored.
I will send you Alexis' progress reports once a term - there are 4 terms in our school year. (The year runs from January to December), as well as any other interesting 'happenings' in her life. Please let me know should you need any further information.
Thank you so much for sponsoring her education - it makes a world of difference!
Stay well
