Ellen Boneparth spent 20 years as an academic. She was a Professor
of Political Science and Women's Studies at San Jose State University
and the University of Hawaii, Hilo where she held the post of Dean
of the College of Arts and Sciences.
From 1984 - 1991, Dr. Boneparth served as a Foreign Service Officer in the U.S. Department of State. She had assignments at the U.S. Embassy in Athens, Greece and the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.
In 1981, Dr. Boneparth founded the International Women's Studies Institute. From 1981-2009, she directed cross-cultural women's studies programs in Greece, Turkey, Israel, Kenya, Hawaii, Australia, Latvia and Lithuania, Spain, Guatemala and Nepal.
Since 1994, Dr. Boneparth has devoted herself to writing fiction, publishing four novels and one memoir.
